Members Mopars: Johns's 1974 Gold Duster

My name is John Hochenedel. I dragged this 74 Gold Duster out of a field in 1999, where the original owner had parked it in 1990. It was EW-1 in color with a tan snakeskin grain canopy roof and tan interior and a slant six engine. I built a 360 engine I got out of a Dodge motor-home, along with a 727. Rebuilt suspension with a P.S.T. master kit and used Shumaker mounts and Hedman Hedders. Engine has Competition Cams valve-train on the J heads, a .030 overbore, and 9 to 1 compression. T.C.I. Streetfighter converter. Edelbrock Performer intake, and Edelbrock carb. Lokar kickdown. Interior very spartan, needs redoing. Broke original 7&1/4 rear almost immediately, replaced with 742 case 8&3/4 from a 1968 Road Runner with 3.73 gears. Painted Torador Red metallic(ford color) in 2001, paint showing its age with peeling clear-coat. Shows its tail lights to lots of street cars here in Monroe, Louisiana. Going to be repainted and interior finished within the next year.
