Today Dodge revealed the 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger at the New York International Auto Show. The Challenger received a minor refresh consisting of a new grille, hood, taillights, and interior. The Charger on the other hand The new Charger receives a full-body makeover with nearly every single body panel being re sculpted. While most fans love the Challenger the Chargers refresh has been mostly negative, but a lot of these people still cant get over the fact the Charger has had four doors for almost 10 years now. The Jeep Renegade also made its American debut at the NYIAS as as well, and the 2015 Chrysler 200 a month or so ago, so the question is whats next?
Chrysler 300The Chrysler 300 is the next vehicle to get a refresh, we believe that is will be a minor refresh similar to what the Challenger received. First off the 300 will receive a updated front clip, while at the 2015 Chrysler 200 event a engineer said the front end of the 200 is the new face of Chrysler, so we believe is will have a smaller grille than the current gen 300. The winged Chrysler badge will proudly be displayed in the center of the grille apposed to being flush with the hood. The rest of the exterior should mostly stay the same, the interior will be updated vastly. The interior will be upgraded will classier materials, the use of suede from the 2015 Challenger will most likely be used as well. Expect to see standard the 7 inch custom TFT screen, and UConnect2 is also guaranteed.
Dodge Avenger
A few months ago Chrysler announced that it would end production of the Dodge Avenger. The car world really didn't seem to care, automotive journalist claim the Avenger was a rental car at best. The current gen Avenger came to life in 2007 and since then have sold over 406,000 units. Sadly this wasn't enough to save the Avenger, Dodge could of took the easy way out and made a new model based off of the 2015 Chrysler 200 but they did not. As of right now the Avenger is dead, but could it be revived in the next few years?
One rumor and the most recent is that Dodge will build the new Avenger on a new Alfa Romeo-designed rear-wheel-drive platform. If this would be the case we could see a smaller more nimble Avenger, built for performance. This would make sense seeing that Dodge is trying to become known for their aggressive and muscle car themed vehicles. Building the new Avenger on this platform would then make it different from the upcoming 200, not taking the easy way out and rebadging a vehicle.
The second theory and my favorite is that the rumored Cuda that has been in the works for the last few years is the next generation Avenger. This means everything we have been hearing regarding the Cuda could still be true, a modern sports car with some sort of performance engine, may it be the new Supercharged Hellcat or a SRT4 we are not sure yet. I honestly believe this is whats going to happen, the name Cuda has received to much negative feedback, especially if they modernize it instead of a retro design. So would it be the same Avenger we know and love today... The answer is no, but it sure is a start, and would be keeping that name alive.
Chrysler Town and Country/ Dodge Grand CaravanWe do not know much about the beloved Chrysler vans, but we expect we will lose one of them. The safe bet is to say the Chrysler will keep the van, Dodge has been known for their muscle in recent years so the Grand Caravan may turn into a crossover. The Town and Country will become the sole van for Chrysler, and is due for a complete redesign for 2016.
